5 recent'ish ipad books that i rather like.

The Wasteland :: an app that pretty much shows what you can do with an app and a masterpiece of the 20th century. It's made by Touchpress - who are worth a look because everything they have done is rather brilliant.

Al Gore : Our Choice :: lots of me tells me this isn't the direction books should go in, that this video-based, interruptive, data animated story telling stops you getting involved in the story. But it's kind of cool. from pushpoppress

PaperCut :: Short Story specialists Shortfire Press have joined up with another of our favourite digital creative groups ustwo to make an app featuring three short stories and some reading experiments. Apparently 'enhanced' reading. Which, again, I'm not sure exists - but it is interesting.

Shakespeare in Bits :: provide the audio-visual approach to learning Shakespeare that I always needed. Back in 1992. They have Macbeth, A Midsummer Night's Dream, and Romeo & Juliet for ipad. The animation is a bit shonky, but we don't need Pixar...

Composition #1 :: Universal Everything made Visual Editions remake of Marc Saporta's Composition#1 into an unusual app - definitely a direction we don't expect from a book (but do expect from VE).
